Would love if this newly announced card could in some way help my R3D rendering workflow.

Just say'n.

The K5000 is 20% slower than a nearly 2 year old Quadro 6000. ...Just sayin'

This is kind of a old thread, but probably having to do software support upgrades that happened in 2013 (on the k5000 vs 6000): the k5000 is running about 1/3 less power(atleast for my type of workloads), about 20% faster on applications, fully supports 4k workflow(the 6000 will not output to a 4k monitor) and cost less then 1/2 of the Q6000. I run the k5000 on centos with 32 concurrent threads (the k5000 has more buss bandwidth and a bit less memory, so prefers systems with more threads and is more "streamy").

What do you think Jeff, should k5000 be the standard board for people doing quadhd workflow?

Paul look at the power watts on your PC and look at how much you need to run the card..If your power supply on the pc is 300W and the card needs 500W min this would be your reason for the slowness and your PC fan should be turning on a lot.
