Nvidia 980m 8gb vram vs Quattro M5000m 8gb vram. Really that big of difference?

Does anyone know if its really worth it to spend the money on a Quattro m5000m with the new mobile xeon processors over the best mobile i7 chip and a 980m with 8gb or ram?

I mainly use premiere pro and davinci resolve. Just trying to figure out if its worth it.

The 980M is very fast from what I understand its about as fast as a GTX 970 desktop GPU but with 4.5GB more ram, and 1536 Cuda cores vs 1664 on the full 970. I would say the better way to go is 980M since your not doing stuff with Solidworks or any CAD base programs. With the 980M you should be able to edit with a 4K timeline.

The 980M is definitely the better choice. The Quadro cards dont give any performance difference for the GPU acceleration and Adobe or Davinci. The 980M should also be cheaper.

Are they releasing a Tower Card for 980m?

the Ti, over draws the power on Legacy Mac Pro towers.

No need to. The Geforce 980Ti for example has far greater specs than the 980M. The Mobile cards have less raw specs than the desktop/workstation cards.
