  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NULL LENS TARGET Collimator Kit for ARRI Red One Epic Scarlet Sony F3 C300 PL

Great product - but unless it's had the mechanical modification from the original design, I believe it won't work with Red Epic/Scarlet - it's mechanical clearance issue.

abelcine offering change for null lens target

Not yet. Their solution is still in the works. The null lens as it is does not fit into the sensor well or "throat" behind the PL mount on EPIC/SCARLET. But yes, they are working to provide a solution that will hopefully be better than making us all buy a new Null lens to fit these cameras. I believe there is also a clearance issue on the F35 as well.

Aside from that, it's a great piece of kit! Perfect for RED One.

Abel Cine Tech in NYC is now offering a modification so it will clear the mount of the Scarlet-X and Epic-X ... and it will continue to work for the Red One camera.

Contact Jenna Ipcar in the Service Dept.

That's cool... That's new since NAB, then. Actually they may have announced at NAB, I walked by the Abel booth twice and didn't stop in... I was already coping with being depressed over all the new toys I have no budget for. haha.

Last I heard/saw anything from Mitch Gross, they had not started offering the fix yet and that was just a couple weeks back.

Mitch first e-mailed me about it on Tuesday.

My impression is that they have just begun the service this week.

Don't quote me on it (or hold them to it), but I believe it costs an hour of service time for the conversion.

That sounds more than reasonable to me! I'll see what I can find out tomorrow.

Yes, this is true. Sorry, I've been away from REDuser for a bit with all the business that follows NAB.

The NULL Lens can be upgraded to fit the EPIC and Scarlet cameras. The rear housing needs to be carved away a bit on the sides in order to fit within the mask in front of the sensor. AbelCine offers the service to upgrade all current NULL Lenses. The charge is a one hour Service fee, which is simply to cover our time in aligning our mill of each individual NULL (it's a hand process). The upgrade is offered only at our New York office, but if you are near our LA office we will ship your NULL back & forth to NY in our regular weekly shipments at no additional charge. To arrange for your NULL to be upgraded, please contact Jenna Ipcar in the AbelCine NY Service Department at ***jenna -- at -- abelcine.com*** or you can always feel free to contact me directly. Please do so via email rather than PMing me here as I can then assist processing the request most effectively.

All new NULL Lenses will be sold with the modified design at no additional fee.
