I know Jim has many times stated how challenging the R&D is for the Epic, but it's especially eye-opening considering that companies like Apple could have spent up to a BILLION dollars (this is a point of debate) developing the chip that runs the iphone/ipad/etc ...

Not saying Red spent a billion dollars ... nor am I saying their chip was this difficult as something this compact/portable ... but still, given that the Epic chip needed to be created largely from the ground up -- to power all those insane specs that have never been in ANY video camera before -- it's understandable that both the cost and time to develop have been massive beyond what we can imagine.
