  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd...

If Scarlet disappoints... I'll retire.

That's not much of a bet, Jim. Given Jarred's snippets we've seen over the years, the DSMC system ensuring the future-proof of any accessories, the great free software (seriously, does anybody use the discs that come with their Canon gear?) and the real ace up your sleeve, Redcode, we're going to see you around these parts for a while yet!

(slo-mo cat month - heh heh very droll)

This place is just going to explode on the 3rd.

If what's coming is what I think is coming - everything changes, again. This time I might actually be able to afford it though.

I remember seeing Crossing the Line at the Final Cut Studio Tour in Atl. and meeting Ted and this "Red One" before it was going to ship way back when. I was amazed at the RED ONE, but knew it wasn't a reality for me as far as budget.

I then heard about this amazing SCARLET camera that was within my reach, and was so... excited about it. I have not stopped looking at REDUSER Since on a regular basis (even though I don't post much).I have been amazed at the specs of the SCARLET through all the changes, and I'm sure this one will not disappoint.

I have been waiting and waiting just like so many others, and I am so... pumped it will soon be a reality!!!!!

Pretty Big Words from Jim...

If Scarlet disappoints... I'll retire.

Are people allowed to order multiples, or will it be one per household until production/supply reaches some sort of equilibrium (starring Christian Bale)? I just got this sickening feeling that all the big boys will be ordering duallies for 3Dness, essentially doubling the wait time for people who aren't quick on the draw (but only want one).

what is the fastest way to place a payment? credit card? I guess money is going to flow in faster than a bank's server can handle!

There is no doubt in my mind that Scarlet will rock... you guys have been working on this camera for so long, fixing all the bugs and adding as much to the camera as you can before releasing it just to make sure that you deliver a product of great quality. I have been following Scarlet every since the start, waiting patiently for it's release so that I can buy. And now I can't believe that the magic day is just around the corner... woohoo!!! Nov. 3 will be the best day of the year!!!

Jim, Jarred , you said something about people that supported Red and a "support list". Any chance we get to know this? Or will you notify individual users through PM, email? And the "Shit"List? Will it be "Royal Rumble", first come first serve, no holds barred carnage for Scarlet orders?

Also, and this is pushing a bit for a hint, but I believe most of us will want a Canon mount, should we be ordering one of those right away for Scarlet? There's a big risk of these being sold out thus making us having Scarlets without a mount, or with a mount we cannot use... We already know that "the camera we want is coming the end of this year" and this was in the Epic-S thread, so we somehow "know" we are getting some form of interchangeable S35mm from RED at the Sub 20K price point...

Another question for Jarred is, since you cleared this in the "scarlet" thread- that most accessories are interchangeable between Scarlet and Epic- would it be wiser to order the side handle, the Red Volts, Redmotes, etc. NOW? Is there a risk of "sold out" of these essential acessories at November 3rd ordering?

This would be quite helpful...

On Nov 3, Canon will make a historical announcement that it is about to be history.
