  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd Contest

REDray released and in the online store -- $5000

•*Fixed -- $6500
•*Interchangable -- $5500

5" Touchscreen, Side Handle, Side SSD, REDmote, 4x 64GB SSD cards, 4 batteries & travel charger, Custom Laser cut Pelican 1510 case -- $7500

Mini Primes -- $950 each, full set for $5000

Non titanium mounts -- $900 each

AND the top vent plate is flattened like the Epic X, not round like the M
----

Alchemy is not a color adjustment, but an intelligent resizer.

RED One Second Life program. Reselling those Epic executed R1's to people who've never owned a RED -- $15,000
Eligible for RED Armor

Lastly, RED licensed a mid to high compression of REDcode (24:1) to Canon for their new cameras. That'd be 'an historic event'
thus allowing RED to retract the January 1 price increases.

How about just one camera since Jannard said that the Scarlet is "now a professional camera" so no fixed lens:

Scarlet Interchangeable:
Larger sensor s35 or 4/3"-to not take away from the Epic (yes not 2/3"-a lot's changed since the first 2/3" announcement many moons ago with how the industry is moving to larger sensors)
4k resolution (can't see Red going to 3k after making higher res cameras-don't think they'd work backwords)
HDRX
120 fps & 150fps burst
Anywhere between $9,999-$15,000

And for kicks I'm going to add that there will be a Pro Res Module to be added as well to steal some thunder from the Alexa crowd :yesnod:

Not really playing but ...

Specs include all the Scarlet specs that Jon Sagud has in his June /11 sticky . Get real everyone Scarlet is a 2/3 camera only. The SSD Module is now built in and not a removable module on the Scarlet to reduce cost.(explains the lack of support for the side SSD module) CF can be used with the optional adapter.

Package(works out of the box(media sold separately) to include Fixed Body with 5"Touchscreen for control. Power to be supplied by a very basic battery module of some sort for this package only , a travel charger and one battery . Price for this kit between 6k and 7k. Media and CF adapter sold separately .

Both Scarlet fixed and Removable bodies to be sold solo for those users who already have the basics. Scarlet removable will ship when lenses are shipping

Specs not in Jons sticky include 120 fps with burst to 180. Some additional previously mentioned functions will now be enabled or will be available by the time you get your camera via firmware update.

First batch will ship within 2 weeks of orders. Some may be back ordered depending upon demand.

Scarlet lenses will be announced and will ship early next year

News of other Red projects close to shipping will be released.

All this is subject to change... :-)

You want specific? I'll give you specific!

  • Only one model announced. Scarlet will be amalgamated with Epic-S.
  • 4320 x 2160 resolution (specific enough? :) )
  • Mysterium X sensor. Same pixel pitch as Red MX and Epic.
  • DSMC form factor. Compatible with all Epic accessories.
  • Interchangeable Mount and therefore lens.
  • Maximum RC: 7:1
  • Maximum frame rate at full sensor: 60 fps
  • Maximum frame rate at crop: 150 fps
  • HDRX included.
  • Price: $9,900 Brain only, no mount, no SSD module, no side handle. Just brain.

POSSIBLE: "Fixed Lens" single piece lens + mount. The same 8x lens that was supposed to be on the fixed scarlet for use with 3k crop. Basically, this would satisfy all Scarlet 2/3" people AND satisfy large sensor needs from everyone else as well. Price is probably $3000.

Man, I was pretty close. You gotta admit :).

Alright, I was way off, but, wow, Canon worked really hard, and their primes look alright though probably way too expensive, but that C3800 or T1000 is the biggest piece of junk and then at close to $10,000 more than an X... They really should get their minds right!

Figure out the winner between yourselves plz - I'm traveling this weekend. Will send hat out to winner next week!

Well I think I got pretty durn close. Nailed some, overshot others by just a little, but all in all, pretty much spot on. I even got the vertical resolution right. Pretty much there on the rest of the package. Anyone think they did better?
