  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nov 3rd and STAGE 3, 3.5 and 4

i think everyone should have funds in place for November.

You think Stage 4 announcement for Nov 3 - at least for placing orders is realistic Steve? ;-)
 
Now only about half of Stage 2 (from 9 of September was shipping Epic-X for RED ONE owners from 2007 to August 2008) so bestway it is need for about 1-1,5 month to the end of Stage 2 Then as minimum 1,5-2 month for Stage 3 so Stage 3 and 4 can't be of course begin 3 Nov. Maybe Stage 3 in late December and Stage 4 in January-Fedruary. I think it would be nice.
 
Im unclear about this any one have any info. We hope to be stage 3 but its not announced to start yet. Will stage 3 Red One upgrades to Epic be complete before Scarlet or other cameras ship ?

Well its been stated in the past (I think) that Scarlet rollout would take place after all Stage 3/3.5 had been notified that their EPIC's where ready for exchange/shipping.

The Canon announcement might have forced RED's hand a bit.

Still, only 2 weeks to wonder...

Well we know that you can certainly place your deposit for Stage 4 before the 1st January 2012 price increase as Jarred has already confirm that.

I haven't seen any info from RED saying they will comment on when Stage 3 will start nor have they said anything would be announce about Stage 3 on the 3rd November.

At this point its all a guessing game as to what is going on and how many EPIC-X Stage 2 have shipping and how many they still need to get through to start Stage 3.
No one even knows what the Stage 3 package consists of.

I had thought that "ramping up production" would mean all EPIC's X would have shipped by now but we don't even know where Stage 2 is in being finished.

A bunch of us have been watching the Stage 2 Epic Xs roll out over here: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?51814-Who-ordered-EPIC-stage-2-Let-s-try-and-count. Its not a exact science, but should be a decent cross section of stage 2 folks.

But in general I agree with you that the "ramping up production" has yet to take place (at least from what I can tell), and at the current pace (~100 per week) we'll be lucky if any Stage 3 Epics are delivered before the end of the year. I seriously hope I'm wrong about that, but until we see 200-500 cameras a week its hard to imagine that Stage 3 will start anytime soon.

All that said, I've got my fingers crossed that the slight uptick we've seen over the past few days is not a fluke, and that maybe the increased production is about to begin : )
 
That is great news.

I was just cruzing the RED store and noticed how many items have the old SCARLET compaticle check box checked.

SSD media

But eh SSD MODULE is not Scarlett compatible. Maybe it's built in?

yeah i was looking at this as well, although it just doesn't seem like they would make it built in because then you'd be stuck with it. (not that it's a bad choice!) I'm sure it'll be modular just like epic.

Also, Stage 4, its open to whomever wants to buy one right? I'm pretty sure that's what it is but i just wanted to make sure!
 
I'll be honest, I'm actually pretty bummed out tonight. I am waiting for Stage 3 as I missed the chance to get in on stage 2, and now it looks as though people will have scarlet's long before I get my epic.
:( a bit disappointing..
I realize things change. But I was happy back in the day when we thought all epic stages would be completed before Scarlet shipped....

Jim has stated that there will be a Stage 3 & 3.5 announcement either today or tomorrow. Hold tight.

I'm hoping for a added Stage 4 link tomorrow too. At least a continual confirmation that I can order mine before end of the year.

Why?

You get an EPIC for 10,500. It's a fully enabled camera with every option you need going forward.
Would you rather spend the same on a camera with way less features and get it in three weeks?

I think EPIC will be worth the wait.

Im not bummed about Epic at all! Im possibly a bit dissappointed by scarlet shipping before my epic.
I am very excited/anxious for epic, and I am in no way disappointed by what Epic is, and what I am getting for the price.
I was just hoping to have it before scarlet flooded the market.
Heck, with the new scarlet specs, I'll probably have a scarlet as well.

Looking forward to more info today :)

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

As someone in stage 3 I just can't wait to make the upgrade to Epic, and if a flood of Scarlets start rolling out before Stage 3 I won't be able to help but feel a little bummed out by that.

it,s again after midnight in europe ,hope i have not to wait hours and hours for annoucement delivery epic stages

it was a long night last night
