  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nov 3rd and STAGE 3, 3.5 and 4

I read a lot of stuff on this forum but I can't cover it all.

Has there been any indication whether the November 3rd announcments will have any affect on the EPIC-X stages?

If new camera's are available on that day does that have any affect on the later EPIC-X stages (the ones currently no shipping)?

Your guess is as good as ours. All we know is that it is a huge announcement and it looks like its going to be Scarlet centric.

Personally, I am hoping for an update on EPIC stage 3 / 3.5 / 4

What we do know if the announcement is happening at 6pm PST and orders will be available from 7pm PST - of what, we don't know, lead time - we don't know...

All good fun :-)

You know. It's one of those things that either is burried deep in some post somewhere or has just become truth. Sometimes its hard to discern one from the other. :)

everybody always demands references... look through jarred's posts, it's in there. or you can take our word for it, there was no other way to interpret his statement, and no other clues in there that you'll find. but you might learn a lot if you look through his posts!

No worried David. Glad I could answer your question. I for one am aching for Stage 4 information. I do know that Jarred has stated to me in a post that Stage 4 EPIC-X orders will be taken before the 1st January 2012 price increase so I am happy. Although I don't expect delivery until say February, I know RED have surprised us before so hoping for a nice surprise on Nov 3rd.

Looking through threads and determining whats true and heats hear say is difficult if you miss a few days. I always find myself with a few tabs open in Safari and if I miss something, thats where the RED Team Tab comes in handy and I just skim through the RED Team posts as thats where all the official word is. If I find an interesting topic, then I'll go back and re-read the thread over breakfast and coffee (which a normal occurrence on picking up the threads in the UK after the US has been posting all night ;-) )

Jim had previously posted somewhere that Red's ability to deliver product will be greatly increased soon.
Perhaps that's a part of the announcement.

I just heard they brought in a manufacturing efficiency ninja that will get them from 10,000 cameras in four years to thousands of cameras per month.

RED has given us every indication that they are serious and ready to take on Canon from the new plant in Irvine that's why they are going head to head.

Yeah, they brought in that guy about 6 months ago - can't remember for the life of me what his name is, but he's come over from Oakley. He's hoping that we rattle through Stage 3 / 3.5...

I think I read that in a Jarred post. He is the best in the world.
