  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nov 30 SCARLET DAY?

Just count on this news:

About Saturday, January 16th 2010 RED LA Event "EPIC Feedback day" JJ wrote at CML:

"Just to be clear... EPIC and Scarlet use the new Mysterium-X sensor which will NOT be working (waiting for ASIC)
in the EPIC and Scarlet prototypes we will be showing. It will, however, be fully working in a RED ONE (same as Fincher is using now)
so you can see the image quality of what will be in EPIC.

We will show a full compliment of accessories so it will be easy to see how to configure and EPIC or Scarlet for handheld, shoulder, studio,
steadicam or other configurations. Additionally, we'll bring RED Pro lenses and a lens projector... so bring any lenses you want to see as a comparison.

We will share specs, capabilities and listen carefully to any requests, suggestions and comments.

Color science and post workflow options will be shown and discussed including REDCINE-X and RED Rocket™™™™™™™™.
We will also make our 4K reels available to be shown if it is possible.

Jim"

According to Neil Smith, Managing Director of Hollywood-DI this even titled "EPIC Feedback day"

would take place at facilities of Hollywood-DI Saturday, January 16th 2010.

10 bucks says we'll get anouncments tonight or just after midnight!

I constantly hear lines like this. Has jim ever been early in his announcements? I would go as far to say that he is usually a little late. So as far as the 10 bucks... You're on!

Last year he started leaking a few hours early. I'm just hoping I can get online at that time.

How many annoucements will we have until we get the one that really matters... Scarlet is now shipping! Everything is subject to change including what we hear tomorrow.

i am staying in blind faith mode.. maybe scarlet is closer ; than all those folks who are'nt actually working on it are saying.. i mean none of these whining naysayers have engineered any cinema quality cameras that im aware of... i have my fingers crossed. that these folks are going to make allot of amature filmakers, very happy and their efforts much more fruitful .

Is the announcement ready yet Jim & Red Team?

Read somewhere that RED pushed and updated specs of SCARLET to match money vs mobility future by future for HDDSLR offerings of Canons and Nikons?

Color Depth
Data Rate
Mobility (modular design)

I'm curious as to how reservations are going to be handled. For us red owners upgrading to Epic, do we still have any priority if we also want a fixed Scarlet camera? Every Red Owner -also future Epic upgraders- that I know all want the scarlet as well since it can serve as an excellent b-cam/crash cam..etc.

We may find out more today, but the "execution" of your serial number has been described as a one time event. Check the first few posts from the Madman in the Oct. 30th announcement thread for details.

The more interesting question to me is how they will handle the order of shipping Scarlets after all the people who choose to use their serial numbers for Scarlets have been served...

Cheers - #19

But is the "execution" of your serial number a one time thing for the discount (which ever one you choose), or for the discount and place in line? What I mean to say is, do early adopters get more than a one time advantage?

Its time RED.
