This is not 4K, nor is it RED but its cool and of interest to 3D fans so I thought I would post it here. I was fortunate enough to be in Tokyo the other day and picked up this little baby in Akibahara,
not to be released in the US for another month or so, it is a VERY interesting camera.
IO is possibly too small, I haven't had a ruler handy but it looks like 1 inch or so to me. This could be good for interviews, close ups and certainly I would expect it to be embraced by pornographers. I would say a steadicam Merlin and HDMI recording is necessary if you want anything really smooth, but possibilities abound.
So far I have just been recording with the built in AVCHD codec at it's highest setting and the 96GB of on board memory. I have not had a chance to view it on a 3D TV yet but will try tonight. I am also working on putting together a short clip I could post. I've done a lot of shooting on the Tokyo metro and some at the Tsukiji fish market as well as an RC car / plane park in Seoul.
The IO seems mild for most subjects but perhaps that's a good thing. The clever purely optical lens attachment splits the frame into a side by side format and provides a really unique alignment tool that is extremely cool! No options for IO (IA if you like) or ZPD (convergence if you like) control. I don't care though. Even if the pictures are terrible I'm putting this thing under my pillow at night and calling it baby.
