Non Lithium batteries

Given the strict restrictions imposed by airlines on freighting lithium batteries..... what NON lithium V lock batteries are people using for their Weapon cameras?

Not sure. But airline friendly batteries like Paglinks certainly becoming more appealing every day.

i think I am going to buy some nickel metal hydride batteries at some point to compliment our PAGlinks.. (Hopefully from pag who are looking into it I believe)... The idea would be that we carry on some lithiums but stick 10 nickel metal hydride batteris in the hold.. So we are super covered..

What we need to do is put some pressure on the camera companies (mainly red and ARRI) to make bigger efforts to reduce power consumption... PAGlinks form factor can support up to 150w of lithium but a switch to nickel metal hydride battery will bring that down to 60-65w... If red could improve power consumption by 25-35% then nickel metal hydride batteries would be more workable..

I love my PAGlinks. Was told by the dealer that a larger capacity model is coming soon. We should be allowed 2 of those to carry on in a plane in addition to the current model which we can have as many as we can carry.

I have been researching freighting Lithium batteries out of Australia for a big shoot and Panafreight have advised me to rent Lithiums at our destination as the airlines are not willing to fly lithium batteries any longer. This will be a trend into the future.

I recently observed a NiMh battery spontaneously catch fire and spew toxic smoke, this was after it had been flooded in an underwater scooter, it burned for about 30 minutes. I don't foresee any lesser restrictions in future on this type, even though Lithium has been in the news for some time.

Tom the battery you speak of obviously didn't spontaneously catch fire the cause was water ingress which would not happen on an aircraft.
