  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Noktor 50mm F0.95

If only someone would rehouse the Nokton 1.1 - best bang for the buck and great characteristics I think.

PS: those pictures were taken on film though

Nokton f/1.1 is definitely better than Noktor f/0.95

Roberto,

yes definitely was yesterday and today is sunny in Vienna.

But sometimes you have to double the things that people can get it finally in their mind(s).

At $400 more for a sharper f/1.1 you might have a good point. Those do look sharp. Do you have other shots with foreground in focus, on your Red and wide open?

I don't think I would like Red User as much if you weren't here SJ.
I want an SJ T-shirt. In fact I bet that if I made a batch people would buy them out.
It should probably say something like: "Unleash the SJ!" with a picture of Liam Neeson.

I had Nokton f/1.1 about two hours to test at one December 2009 evening, took a car drive but it was at cold and rainy night.

Sanjin, why are these sooooo soooooft? Reminds me of a fifth generation VHS copy...fair bit of flare and glare....Not sure why these would "knock socks off"?

Just asking.

Pawel,

the first, it's shot handheld,

the second, DoF at f/1.1 is a pretty tiny and you need to fix camera and to find a distance with a widest DoF that should be around 4.5m to 5.5m when you are safe.

All other option is to try out focus to infinity but this lens is a faster than Master Prime and on handheld you face some of the focus difficulties.

The garage shot should be OK also from inside of the car wen is focused on the front glass.

Have a look more carefully on the video examples.

But forget Nokton I din't buy it because I'm gonna get (soon) Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH (best money can buy FF35 rangefinder lens)

that is going to easy beat all of your Master Primes (best money can buy S35mm fast lenses) with lightweight, MTF performance, sharpness, contrast and of course a famous Leica image look and feel.

Stay tuned.
