I think we are talking stills only, but I think it impresses me more than the recent Canon / Nikon releases...

Download the samples. The images look funky to me. They don't seem very sharp and are a noisy at 100%. It also looks like the latitude isn't the greatest. All the highlights are blown (metal objects).... But what do I know? I expected better images for an 8k sensor but it could just be the jpeg compression..

IT'S A PHONE! ;)

I realize that, but it's overkill if these are the images your getting (really, whats the point of an 8k sensor in a phone?). My iphone pics look better :)

I disagree with your half empty glass :-) This is a mobile phone for Christ's sake!

Here are more samples:

And here is the official overview:

This can be a revolutionary product in the right hands, even 'cause it is a mobile phone! ;-)

As of today, I am involved in some work to be published with still pictures shot by a mobile phone. This artwork would never be able to be produced with another acquisition device. This is only an example. I sent the link of this new device to the same PROfessional photographers, from who I only heard the same question: when is it available? ;-)

everyone has an opinion. All I'm saying is who cares if its 8k,6k,4k, etc? It's a phone......

Sure :-)

The form factor is yet an advantage for certain kind of shooting circumstances. Resolution follows.

Only as example, in motion, when RED came, we already had film 35mm. To be digital for that price range in such large sensor size, it WAS the revolution then (before the big mamas and papas' arrival). But same form factor. However, earlier than the introduction of these recent micro capture devices such as iPhones or these Nokia for still acquisition at this form factor level -- apples to oranges... :) there was nothing or almost nothing. That piece of artwork I above-mentioned, as for instance, was produced from shots taken with a 2003-04 mobile phone.
