Hello Scarleters,

I have been using Rode NTG-3 + Wooden Camera A-BOX on my Scarlet-X. The audio indicator looks good, and I can hear the sound properly from my earphones plugged in the camera. But the recorded audio heard during the post-production sound noisy. How come this happens?

Kindest,

Wei

How should I get the phantom power form a mixer to the mic? Do you mean that I can connect the mic to the camera via a sound card? Say M-Audio Profire 610?

So there are different phantom powers? 48V phantom power, and phantom power from a mixer?

Not that I am any specialist on this but I believe most mixers are able to provide 48V phantom power to the connected mics (which the scarlet isn't doing right now), hence Matt's answer. Some mics are also powered via AA batteries (sennheiser does one).

The latest beta frimware has +48v phantom enabled as a menu option. I have been using it on interviews with a Wooden Camera A-box and a shotgun for a week now and it's crystal clear. You don't need a mixer is you don't have one.

I have just updated my Scarlet with the most recent firmware, ie, 3.2.13. Now I see under the Audio>Audio Channels>Mode, a BAL./48V option is available. Should that help?

Clutch, really clutch

I've been testing a Røde NTG-3 with Scarlet and the latest firmware 휷eta (Phantom power on) and the sound is really good… I'll still hire a sound guy for most jobs; since getting the picture right is an all consuming job without having to worry about sound as well.

be sure to turn OFF the limiting, which is very aggressive.
