Hi,

I was wondering if there are any really nice noise reduction plugins available for Scratch.

I'm thinking something like Neat Video, but that doesn't have an OFX version.

Also, do all OFX based plugins work in Scratch or do they have to be Scratch specific?

Thanks.

In theory any OFX plugin will work but in reality your milage will vary. ReVision and the Foundry have OFX solutions. Haven't tested the ReVision solution but Furnace from the Fopundry doesn't play so nice in Scratch. To be fair, most of our testing is with R3D footage and throwing plugins on R3D footage in Scratch is just asking for trouble.

Wow. I those gut plugins would be pretty much real time in Scratch with R3D. That's a drag. I suppose you could transude to DPX then add pluggins. Is this a viable finishing workflow?

Yes, it will work (last time I used it was months ago...), but it's not realtime. Furnace's noise reduction is excellent, but computationally expensive.

cheers,

Micheal Cioni posted some screengrabs from s. darko a while back that showed pretty clearly that scratch processing is second only to Pablo. The images were far sharper then the runners up.

Sadly I'm asking because I have some footage that was pretty badly underexposed and am trying to figure out a workflow for it. looks like it'll be scratch coloring -> after effects + neat video. It's one of those "just shoot me now" deals.
