About 10% of the time when I boot up my RED I get this crazy noise pattern on the right side of my screen. Turning off the camera and turning it back on results in it working again.

This was both on the HDMI output and the LCD.

Gavin,

I'm sure you've already done the Log file, support ticket.

Also, I'd consider a reinstall of the FW with nothing attached to the camera and just double check the fw version after the upgrade. If it persists after that, I'd consider sending it in.

Battistella

I unplugged replugged the cable and it remained. Also it was out through the SDI and HDMI feeds. So I think it was prior to the monitor cable in the image pipeline.

I suspect it may need to be serviced if the firmware reloads don't solve the issue. Best of luck

Gavin, If you haven't already, please file a support ticket with a log from the camera.

We're actively investigating small number of similar reports. You may want to try reverting to 5.1.64 until we refresh the 5.2.x release.

Support says this is a firmware issue and will be fixed in a future firmware update. Nice to hear I haven't had to send in my RED camera for a 7th time in 3 years. :P

Can you say lemon?

To be fair:
0) Side Handle Defective

1) Scarlet-X died.
2) SX->EpicX upgrade.
3) EpicX worked for an hour then died (bad boards components incident) (And got a free extra year of warranty).
4) Dust on the sensor
5) Same dust still on the sensor (they didn't clean it the first time).
6) Dragon Upgrade.

So 2 of those 6.5 RMAs were upgrades. :P On the bright side, besides FedEx I've never spent any money on RED repairs even though the Scarlet was technically out of warranty.
