Noir Effect with Red

Are there any aerosols that can give me fog, steam, etc for a noir production on red? I don't want to do anything in post because it never looks as good...

If it's smoke from a cigarette - back light it.

Or try using a hazer/fogger for atmosphere.

Are you asking if you can use a can of hairspray to fog a boat dock? Or are you asking if you can spray a clear glass filter with something to give it a soft effect/fog effect? You need a hazer to fog a large open area. You may be able to get away with a fogger if you have a smaller area, like indoors with little ventilation.

IF you are looking for an on-camera filter that can approximate the look of a smoked room, try the Smoque series...
