  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

nofilmschool.com EPIC Article

...They'll have had generous lighting budgets and, more importantly, top-notch talent in every department ensuring it looks great....

Not only that..but guess what..they will be edited. They will remove all
the bad and keep all the good. Your blog/article is o.k. but it is kind
of states the obvious. Magic hour/sunset/sunrise footage looks great
but why is that the only look that seems to appeal to you.

I do think though you little bit tried to set-up a provocative tone..which
is in itself o.k...it gets attention and got everyone here reading your
stuff...but it sort of lead to over the line replies that followed which
specifically insulted the models and their faces. Totally wrong..and
uncalled for and you should have edited/removed those..those posted
comments make your site look unprofessional and unappealing.

On this one I need to agree with Steve, even so I don't mind when people offensively talk about me, it really does not touch me ;)

Some comments should have been edited/removed!

So while I was disappointed in some of the first RED EPIC footage to hit the web, I did suggest that it wasn’t the camera’s fault: drab brown interiors or ski slopes on an overcast day don’t capably demonstrate what a camera is capable of.

Problem is that people do not follow the thread from the beginning and they jump into conclusion by reading just few last posts.

Ketch clearly stated that his girls shot purpose was to get some pictures of the models for the journal not the movie.

This was clear Cinephotograpy session.

I was actually amazed how little you can spend on makeup and lighting and get top quality result.

Next, Ketch posted the end result and it was superb.
Thank you Ketch, I was really anxious to see Cinephotography session in its best.

I would not call it disappointing:-)

As to on the snow footage, we were asking all along for contrast scene and bright and dark scene elements. We got it and we got it without HDRx™™. You can see interior of snowmobile and very bright outside without blowing highlights and crashing blacks. We got what we asked for.

And all this done on the spare time of very busy people.

I don't generally remove comments, but now that I go back, you're right Ketch -- some of those were devoid of any value. In general, I think any of us who create content have to have thick skin -- as you said Ketch, you have the confidence to go out there and continue making videos without worrying about what someone says through an anonymous comment box on the internet. I look forward to your future EPIC shoots!

There are two comments by someone who using Jim Jannard's name and is clearly NOT Jannard.

When I read the first post by this person I thought, it might indeed be Jannard poking fun at some of the inane comments previously posted, and thought it humorous in that context.

But after reading the second I realized that there is a form of identity theft taking place on your blog.
