Hello people, has anyone ever experienced a total black video signal in the .r3d file while the audio is fine?

Here's my situation: Have these blacked out files when i play them on the computer or when in Log and Transfer in FCP 7.0.2, but when i play them back in camera i can see them perfectly. The audio is fine. The proxies are totally black also.

The other odd thing is that not all the files in the same roll present this problem, only the last few. I have them in my Red Hard Drive, and shot them using build 20 on the RED One.

Any thoughts?

Maybe its up to corrupt frames...
Just do a forum search with the keyword corrupt.
There's lot of information for you to find out if that's your problem.
Best thing in this situation is that you still have the original media and would just need to do another offload.

Are the R3D files black or the QT proxies?...big difference.

Its more than likely just your QT proxies, which are simply reference files, just regenerate them in Red Cine X

Easy peasy if its the same problem i had a few years back. So take a deep breath. open the file in red (insert favorite software here) look at your rgb channels.... chances are they are all at zero. Bump them all up to 1 ( halfway on the slider) TADAA! okay not entirely sure this is your problem, but i think it is based on what you wrote.
