  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anybody know why 2x Epics would go out of "sync" at 12fps? TC and Gen Lock hold and RedCine can auto mux the L and R files with a -2 frame offset, but the "sync" doesn't seem to get into phase. Been able to keep sync all the way up to 72 fps too and I feel like it stands to reason that getting "sync" should be easier the lower the fps...

Hi Marc…

I have an order in for two Scarlet-X(s) and we are fixing to work (in a lot of cases) at 12fps in S-3d (different set up to the usual). So I have put in through the Bomb squad reps that particular query. Also the possibility of stereo synch at 6 fps for HDrX. Also posed the question for degree of (temporal) error between left and right scans.

There is this idea that there might be a master/slave two camera synching option. Have been looking at the triggering and synching inputs to see if we need to build some custom electronics to trigger and or synch the cameras accordingly.

This seems to be a slightly “dicky” issue on the S-3d part of the forum, and for some reason stereo synch even at normal frame rates seems to be a bit of a hit or miss affair?

I know that Epic and Scarlet are different beasties, but if I find out anything constructive, will let you know.

Cheers,

Eric

HDRx sync is not enabled yet but arbitrary fps rates can be done with the shutter sync input.
For standard rates and multiples of those, use genlock.

Deanan thanks for answering that!,

I think I saw a circuit diagram for how the input pulses need to be triggered/conditioned.

Grammar has never been my strong point…just to clarify

Do you mean if you want HDRx to synch then that can be achieved using the shutter synch input?

[Separate question: Does anyone know how loose scan line to scan line synchronicity is on the EPICs or Scarlets for two camera synch? Eventually we can test that one pretty thoroughly, just wondered what the smallest achievable error in left and right synching would be?]

Cheers, V much,

Eric
