  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

So very much enjoying digging into the depths of our new baby CF-W.

One thing I wasn't aware of is that it would seem that you are unable to playback clips in camera when recording Pro Res only. I would hope that it is (and suspect that it is) something that will be able to be added in future firmware updates.

But its definitely a big hinderance for prods that want to shoot Pro Res only as it stands right now.

I confirm that it's impossible to playback the prores files, only r3d files. Big problem if you only shoot Prores...

Temporary solution until they add this, just shoot r3d at the crazy highest compression ratio for playback proxies.

Also, think on this - even if a client wants only prores deliverables, wouldn't you want R3D for your reel?

Finally - if they don't want the R3Ds to "fill up their hard drives" just don't transfer the r3Ds when downloading.

If it's a huge Union TV show or movie , they're supposed to have a separate Union playback person too.

Dont get me wrong, I'd love to see this feature added, and I bet it will - glad there are options though.

Yeah, exactly!! You record RAW at 22:1 just for your playback. . . hilarious (but not). . .

My thoughts exactly!

Being worked on via a firmware update that's coming soon. Not available today, but likely pretty shortly.

Welcome back to the early days of the epic. ;) Give it time, it will happen very soon. Hopefully before or when the Scarlet-W ships.

I actually remember this being a good thing when working with a director who wanted to play back every clip :) I am sure it won't be too long now.

Its not a Bug its a Feature®
