I've got the often recommended UDMA FW800 card reader working fine on the desktop top - but could do with PC laptop ingest too. I purchased a FW800 Pc express card which mounts okay according to Device manager.

However, each of my 3 pcs (3 different OS, xp, vista, 7) will only see the FW800 and nothing happens when I plug the Lexar card reader in at all.

Anyone any good PC laptop solutions here?

thansks.

Expresscard FW800 does not pass bus power, which is why your Lexar card reader doesn't work with it. Look on the side and you may see a DC input socket - check with the manufacturer what the size and polarity of the socket is if you want to use it, but be aware that Red recommends Red Drives are NOT powered off bus power.
