I have talked with RED support about my camera staying in perpetual boot with the current firmware. RMA wants me to send it in and get it looked at. I have a HUGE shoot on saturday and the camera will boot with previous firmware but now there is no HDMI out. Any ideas?

Is there SDI?

If you can check that (and it works) you can grab a temp HD-SDI monitor and then send back after your shoot. Rental on HDSDI monitor should be cheap (a lot cheaper than a new body rental).

Just a thought.

Regarding the problem, sounds like it might be linked to the fact that HDMI/SDI are now simultaneous output... (rather than the old either/or) if you could get it working on the new firmware (temporarily) maybe setting to HDMI would help.

Or roll back a few more firmwares (maybe the one the camera shipped with) & see what you get.

download DSMC resources you need to apply the force preset file for hdmi or sdi monitoring if you don't have a red EVF or monitor. In the support section of red.com is a set of DSMC resources(with instructions) with the preset files in there, though it is only for 3.2 I'm not sure if the 3.3 presets are up yet but you can get them from your rep as I did.

I am also a new Scarlet-X owner (got the Battle-Tested deal), and I am having the same issue. I ordered it with the RedMote, Red Station and SSD. In order for me to get the preset file onto the camera, I need to format my SSD, which it appears I can only do from the camera (and not via the RedMote). Is there any way to properly format the SSD on the computer?
