Nikon mount installed in under 10 minutes which calmed some of my fears. This piece was shot quickly, edited quickly with no color correction using 2K QT proxies. Just wanted to see how the Nikons performed. Used a 50mm 1.4 and a 24mm 2.0.

Be kind guys, this was done quickly and I pulled my own focus, and wasn't after perfection. Just wanted to get a quick look at the lenses.

It's just under 100mb, so might take a while to load in browser.

Hey Steve,
Picture quality and lighting, very nice.
I'm glad we got your Nikons out in time.
Thanks for sharing this quick test, it says a lot.

What other lenses?

What other lenses?

Steve,
Nice job. Can you post some pics of some of the lenses on the camera? Do you have a matte box for them? Were you shooting wide open? I've got a call into that company because I'm thinking of using Nikon glass not only because of the affordability but because of the speed of the lenses, particularly the 50mm.

Thanks guys!

I must say that having these lenses is making me want to shoot all of the time. I still have some more testing to do, but my initial feeling is that if you have still lenses that are in great shape, they will perform well on the RED.

Bob, I do have a matte box on the way.

Dexter, I was using LCD. My EVF has not arrived yet. I am very much looking forward to receiving that.

My next step is to now take this sequence through Crimson and do a conform from the 4K files. I was noticing some banding and noise in the footage, but I'm hoping that it's from working with the proxies and that the conform and grading will take care of that. I'll report back when I've done that pass.

Peter, great job on selecting the lenses. I'll probably be a regular customer. I have about 5 or 6 more lenses I can already think of that I would like to add to the collection. :-)

Yo Steve - I loved that !

The sensor is quite remarkable. I was trying to compare it to 1080 stuff off the hpx cams - even with the downsampling etc; to 720 ... very nice. Can't compare the quality - can't even start. Red quite simply head and shoulders above those.

And that quick rack in the fridge was cool :-)
Well done, man !

Nikon's can do it - you proved that for me.

ohh, ohh and no CC !!
