I've got that exact lens, cine-modified by RP Lens. I've used it with the F3, AF-100 and FS-100 and love it. In fact, I've got a complete set of AIS primes and love them.

On Scarlet/Epic, your best bet is going to be the Optitek Nikon mount. If you've got a Canon mount, you can use a simple Nikon-Canon adapter, like a Novoflex or Fotodiox model.

I thing's amazing. It's a vintage lens though, doesn't have the contrast and sharpness of the canon 50 1.2....but, in my opinion, it's better. Get it if the focus feels good and is in good condition. Cheap eBay adapters from nikkor to EOS work a treat! Ive been loving the nikkor 50 1.4 for three years now, one of my favorite lenses.

great news! What's the consensus on the best adaptor? I want the most reliable one. Thanks again everyone for the input.

I have an Optitek Nikon Prolock mount on my Red One and it is just wonderful. I can use all of my AI-s glass without having the irises "declicked" as well as my G lenses on the camera. They make one for Epic/Scarlet also. Full aperature control. superior lens mounting, beautifully made, and approved by Red. I quite like the 50mm AI-s f1.2 on the Mx sensor on my R1. Just my 2 cents.

You might also consider the A-Mount for your Scarlet. That'll give you the option of sticking almost any glass you come across on your camera. See thread here

phew 30 pages of reading lol. Better get through it. Shane have you used the Allstar A-mount? This def. looks like something to consider.

Haven't used the A mount but have had other gear from All Star on a Red One. Very happy. As most people on that 30 page thread seem to be. Maybe ask on the thread but it's just such a cool idea. Nikon, PL, CY, M42, Leica, Oct19...

If you are interested in this lens I bet you are going to use it wide open (as Mike Seymour says it: "Tape it at f1.2")
Check out the breathing if this is ok for your taste. And make sure adapter and mount don't wiggle. Ruins every shot with a focus rack.

I have the 58mm 1.2 Noct. and the 50mm 1.4. Both are wonderful.

I use to use this lens wide open outside in bright sun light as a portrait lens. Love it for that and the extraordinary very dreamy quality it produces. If you are lens technician type or just want something that is very sharp wide open then don't get this lens as it will irritate you. Starts sharpening up nicely by f2 though.
