Just spoke to Red, and they do not offer a VV mount for Nikon (allegedly insufficient demand). The guidance was that the current Red mount covers 6k, so could crop, or could consider 3rd party mounts.

What are others using to shoot 8k with Nikon mount glass on Monstro? I'd like to use Otus glass (and prefer Nikon mount to Canon)...

Thanks,
Tim

I ended up just going with the Canon/PL - replaced a few Nikon favorites with Sigmas in a Canon mount. As I had the same questions for RED over this last year on a Nikon mount. We'd need a lot more Nikon + Monstro users to get the demand up....!

I worked with the folks at WC to prototype their NIKON mount specifically for MONSTRO and the OTUS set. ...loving how it turned out!

They sell the finished product in their store...

Might be worth hacking/Dremeling an original Nikon mount so you have electronic control, rather than the passive/dummy mounts available from 3rd parties. Pretty sure the electronics/pcb is the same size/opening in all of the RED mounts, but hopefully someone with both EF versions confirm that.

That said, over the years I've seen a lot more "no Nikon lens support" threads than Canon ones. Might be another reason to switch. OH and bonus; you can get inexpensive F-to-EF adapters if you're using manual Nikkors and don't need electronic control.

Thanks all! I do like the Optitek mount, but sold mine a while back when I was still on DSMC1. I will probably go with WC on the basis of cost for now, tempted to modify a Red mount (as it sounds others have done with success), but electronic iris control isn't essential for me.

Haven't hear any reports of play on the WC mount, but I will verify when I receive mine next week. Agree the Optitek mount's locking mechanism is nice, I owned one perviously. More than 2x the cost of the WC mount however.
