Can anybody give me a advise how I can get a Nikon lens a bit stiffer on the Nikon mount. It´s a bit loose and I experience a slight tilt of the lens.
Thanks!
Marc

Depends...
Is it your lens mount or your camera mount?
You can increase the amount of pressure the spring in your camera mount applies.
If your lens mount is worn out, you can replace just the lens mount depending on what model lens you have.
I need more details!!!

Wow, Matthew this was fast!
Its the modified Nikon mount from Douglas Underdahl. The lenses are the Nikon AF-ED IF 80-200mm and the AF-S 17-55mm 2,8. They are both in very good shape (not old at all, maybe 8 months).

I've never used the Underdahl mount, I'm not sure if there is a spring in the camera mount or not.
If so, that spring can be "bent" to induce as much pressure as you want.
Although, the 80-200 is a rather heavy lens (for a nikon mount) and probably won't benefit from tightening the spring.

Thank you, I will have a closer look to this spring and will give you some feedback on this later.
Cheers,
Marc

Hi Marc,

All three of my Underdahl Nikon mounts on my RED cameras are a snug fit for each of my 28 Nikon lenses - no wobble in any of them. When I mount the lenses, they twist on firmly, and the little metal release lever gives a slight sound when the lens has fully seated.

The above would lead me to believe that what you describe is that your Underdahl mount simply needs some tweaking, shimming, or adjustment. I'd contact Doug Underdahl directly with your questions on the mount fit...

Thank you Steve, good to get this feedback based on your mounts. I´ll contact Douglas.
Cheers,
Marc

There are rubber bushings available from RED that you can use to beef up the holding power of the springs in the original Nikon mount, or my GDX mount. I believe there's a video showing how to install them somewhere on this site as well although it may have been erased due to the crash thing that happened a while ago.

I also have the bushings and my own video, although I'm not exactly sure where exactly the video is . . . but I can probably find it.

Also, there is this: http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?p=457530#post457530

Douglas, did you find the video: how to use the rubber bushings?
Or do you have a photo of the bushings installed?
Thanks,
Marc

Jacek, I talked about the video: how to install...the rest I will see.
I always thought somebody should just make a mount like you did. Great its ready now. I´m just very close to swap back to the PL way. For this I didn´t order yours until now.
Thank you,
Marc

Just a short feedback: Tilt play is gone after I mounted the bushings. As long the rubber bushings stay in place the mount is rock solid.
Thanks,
Marc
