I am ordering my camera with the Nikon mount installed by Red. But, in the event that a client wants PL mount lenses or I rent the camera out to someone who wants to use the Red lenses or other cine lenses, how easy is it to convert the camera mount back from Nikon to PL. Is this something that I could do myself?

No problem - it takes about 5 - 15 minutes depending on how many times you've done it.

Nick.

I wouldn't underestimate the danger involved in damaging the sensor or the OLPF in swapping out the mount - but yes, it's been designed to be very doable without needing to have a complicated flange focal distance calibration solution.

(This is anecdotal btw - I haven't done it).

Lowdown, thanks for the link. Looks pretty straighforward.

One more question to those who have the Nikon mount installed by RED. Do they also give you the PL mount or is that now a separate purchase?

Hello,

It'll come with the purchase as it's the default mount.

maybe don't have red install the nikon mount. Do it yourself and learn how to swap mounts from a default camera set up. Very easy either way.

On youTube is a video showing how to install the Nikon mount. There is a great tip, whereas you pop a small (preferably red) balloon into the hole in front of the sensor - thus preventing dust and worse from hitting the sensor.
