Usual apologies if I have missed a thread on this already in the now massive red archives.

What are the options for Nikon lens users for the Epic? Is there any news on when Red will release their electronic mount? There was some musing about Red producing a dumb mount if the electronic mount was going to be delayed. Is Jaceck's Prolock it at the moment (not that I am complaining about that)? Any guidance would be useful. Obviously it has become rather imperative now that the Epic X is shipping.

Optitek Nikon mount is available. Not sure if they're backordered or not. Red Nikon mount was last estimated for October.

Yes it's available.
We are on schedule . Maybe I can squeze few more out next week but they are all paid for.
This would be a good place to post some pics of the Epic/Nikon setups with all the (Prolock) mouns out there already...
I'll start..:thumbup1:

Hi Jacek. I have your prolock on my Red and I it is really terrific. I have no doubt concerning the quality of the mount for the epic.

Good to know that October has been mentioned as a possible release date for the Red Nikon mount. In relation to the Red electronic nikon mount, I assume that it will be possible to use manual lenses with it. I am trying to avoid buying two nikon lens mounts!

The Optitek Nikon mount is available, it's shipping, and it's fantastic, just like the R1 version was. Solid locking mount, controls G lenses' apertures. I've been using it with lenses from a 300mm Nikkor to an 11-16 Tokina and all look fantastic on the Epic.

is your mount Red approved? Assuming yes, per the other threads while you were waiting, but just want to be sure! i need a Nikon mount ASAP for a job

OptiTek Prolock approved!!

OptiTek Prolock approved!!

Yes it's officially approved- camera warranty not affected:thumbup1:

have we got any answer yet ? I mean red electronic mount allowing to use manual lenses as well ?

I am trying to avoid nikon lens buying insanity - first buying the original red nikon mount (not crash hot), then the Optitek (excellent). I think I will hang back until the Red electronic lens mount appears to avoid being the first person in the world to have to buy four nikon lens mounts within two years.

They all re-sell very easily. Why wait, when you can have a mount work for you today?

Hi Lee. I am stage three so I kind of hoping that the timing will all work out. If I do have to get a nikon mount to cover a gap it will certainly be Jacek's.
