Hi,

we just screwed our Nikon Mount to the RED and put one of our lenses on. The image looks great and I think we will be using the Nikon lenses much more often.

We are now looking into buying more Nikon lenses. Do you have recommendations?

All the best
Torsten

Hi Torsten, welcome to the forum! :)

We purchased the 17-35, 24-80, 80-200 85-400 and Peling Fisheye,. They are all wonderful, but I find myself needing some standard primes now and then.

I'm going to sell my whole Nikon lenses collection (in perfect shape, many as new) as i decided to definitely migrate to PL mount, i already made photos to all pieces and i'm going to post them later this night or tomorrow ... stay tuned!

Very interesting Valde!
Please keep me posted :)

Phil, did you buy additional lens support for you 80-200 and 85-400? I would think that they are quite heavy and might put to much stress on the mount...

How happy are you with the Redrock Products like mattebox and follow focus? Do you know any alternatives?

Cheers

I just acquired a set of Zeiss ZF primes 25, 35, 50, 85 and 100...waiting for the 18 to complete it. For less then 6k you can have a set of primes, not bad at all. The glass is well built, both mechanically and optically worth every penny imo...built like older heavier glass and all color matched etc.

I am still looking for a a zoom to go with this set and I am leaning towards the 17-35. Peling is also fun lens to have in your kit.

I recommend getting your lenses outfitted with gear rings if you plan to work for hire or rent your package. I ended up going with Peter sensor of www.Rplens.com cause he came highly recommended and he is awesome.

I'm going the Nikon route as well to begin with for my own shoots and hiring PL's (Arri Ultra Primes) for paying gigs. I'm really holding out for a set of Cooke S4/i's they make a specially engraved Red set with a 15-40mm T2.0 zoom, and a 50mm, 75mm and 100mm T2.0 primes supplied in a case. Delivery is only November/December if ordered now. It seems the increasing popularity of PL mount lenses has really put the demand through the roof for cine glass. It's a good time to be in the cine lens business that's for sure.
