Hi Everyone,

Quick question that may or may not be answerable give then everything is always subject to change.

All the literature about the Scarlet says that it will work with Nikon lenses (with the proper lens mount obviously).
My question is will the Nikon lenses off my D80 dslr work for still, video, both or neither on the scarlet?

The lenses are DX lenses which are not technically full frame 35mm, but since the scarlet's sensor isn't either, I don't know if it will cause problems or if the lenses will even work on the scarlet at all.

I hope this isn't an obvious answers that I missed somewhere.
Thanks everyone.

The image circle of a DX series lens has to cover a 23.6mm x 15.5mm area... Super 35 is 24.9mm x 18.7mm, so slightly larger. Thus, it may not cover it. DX covers 2/3" (8.8mm x 6.6mm) easily.

Check out this thread.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. That threat you both linked to never came up in searches cause I was focusing on just the scarlet board and not the entire forum.

I guess I should also have added, I'm planning on getting the 2/3" brain and not one of the Super 35s (yet).

So I guess I'll be good to go with the Nikon lenses to get me start. Great!

Thanks again.

So how about just regular old-school Nikon Nikkor lenses?

I have a 50mm, 1.4 I would love to use that lens on the scarlet. Originally I was thinking about getting the FF35 Scarlet to get full frame use out of my nikon glass, but I now I assume I stand corrected? So what Scarlet sensor size would yield the best full-frame coverage for nikon glass?

I also have a Nikon 18- 35mm ED Zoom lens, would that have the same sensor coverage as my older nikon glass? Please help the confusion here...!

Thanks!

I'm not 100% clear on what you're saying here but I think maybe you're not clear about the difference between full frame and APS-C lenses. Nikon lenses that have 'DX' in the name only cover APS-C (~24x16mm) sensors. All others cover the full 36x24.
