  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nikon F on Canon EOS, best adapter?

with the 80-200 are you attaching that to your sticks or the camera?

I would never put an 80-200 hanging off a camera

On adapters I use cheapies and novoflex, cant tell a difference

A small amount of tape can improve fit no end :)

When shooting on my 5D2 and the Nikon 80-200mm I always have the tripod plate on the lens. That would be too much strain on the camera to have it hanging off like that. Not to mention who knows how strong that adaptor is.

Okay, so after playing with the two mounts that I got from Cinevate I have come to the conclusion that one of the mounts is bad. The other one mounts on there pretty snug and is kind of hard to get off. But I would rather it be too tight than too loose. I still think the Fotodiox adaptor is really nice but it is over double the price of the Cinevate ones.

So if you got the cash get a Fotodiox (Pro) adaptor but if you want one that is cheaper get the Cinevate. I contacted Cinevate and told them what was going on and they are trying to fix the problem.

OK, I'm looking to mount a couple of my obscure Nikon lenses to a 5DII and 7D. Which mount is best?

I'm about to buy this one from B&H, but was wondering if there are any different options out there. I know a lot of the cheaper ones don't provide the proper FFD and are therefore worthless.

That is what I have used to fit my Zeiss DF lenses on the 1Ds III, exceptionally built and very precise, lens snaps in very tight, no play, which is very important that adapters have no play, or you will F$#@! up your electronics.

But there are other choices as other here have mentioned, the Novoflex is the only one I used.

I use eBay adapter with AF Confirm Chip which is great

Damn it Ketch, now I'm going to have to try out this super duper mount. If its as solid as you say and has the correct flange depth than its worth $300.

He he, sorry Andrew, it does fit very snappy, in general I have yet to be disappointed by Novoflex, even their Macro guide rails are very well designed, but in general I did not go for it and sold it as well as I did sold all ZF zeiss lenses.

Zeis ZF and now Zeiss ZE have really nothing to any
"L" Canon glass.

But they are way better off course for Manual Focusing.

Makes me wonder if I should've just ordered it in the first place... But all you guys talked me out of it! :001_tongue:

I still might order it just to see. I emailed B&H about it about the same time I started this thread. They assure me the Novolux adapter provides proper flange depth and infinity focus. I'm tempted to order one and if it doesn't work I'll just return it.

I won't get the Fotodiox adapters onto a 7D until later today. But I've played with the two I bought off ebay and my professional opinion is that they suck ass. They are made of the entirely wrong material for this application to start with. ...They are made as cheap as possible (I guess that's why they're $18). Supposedly they have a "Pro" version, but it hasn't been available anywhere since I started researching all of this. Lots of people say the "Pro" one is the same as the regular. I'm wondering if the "Pro" one is indeed the same, but it's one that actually meets spec when tested. hehe..

I think I will take another serious look at the HAODA adapter. It looks the best to me and I almost ordered one a week or two back when I started this. It was on sale for $75 too. Ooops, should've done it.
