They may have the technological potential. But their industrialism style of business is just too bulky and slow. They are just too big to react to specific consumer needs and technological progress in the fast and flexible way Red does.
This century is for indies and small enterprises. And I like that very much.

Not sure the position of Nikon is much enviable at the moment.. Lot's of fashion photographer will probably keep thei Hasselblad or Leaf, Canon is going to sell a lot of 5d II for sure, they will respond to D3x next year with probably a medium format chip and well, we know the position of Red which to my point of view will not exactly interest anyway the same audience. I guess it's more late 2009 and 2010 that Red may have more chance to attract more the favour of the professional photographers.

I'm curious to see how Arri is going to reply to Red actually...

Nikon and Canon are waiting for someone to legitimize the use of SLR still lenses as a "movie" camera. Once the Epic FF and Scarlet FF are out, watch out RED ... watch out WORLD.
