Test experts said it shoots only in AVI format (Windows) and has difficulty to set manual aperture (only on tripod), also no way to manually set the shutter speed and ISO (all Video mode).

But the pictures at those web movies look gorgeous (Nikon look).

I'm surprised that the onboard portion worked out pretty well.

Thanks Stephen,

That is what I saw in the Nikon link. Now that I look at it closely, I can see major case of deforming around the headtube area caused by the rolling shutter.

Major props to Nikon for being smart enough to take full advantage of sound!

I LOVED the snow stuff!

I suppose the rolling shutter can't be that bad if you look at the blades of the helicopter which seem pretty straight for traveling across the frame at crazy speed. Right?

Kaku, what do you mean by headtube?

Video was really cool. Why no 1080p direct download at Vimeo? Afraid of pixel peepers?

What are the specs on the camera? Overcrank?

720p, 24 fps. Files saved as MJPEG. No overcranking, unfortunately. And significant rolling shutter.

But actually pretty fun to shoot with--I've had one for a week, and have found it to be a really nice creative tool. I'd been wanting to do a series of docu/photographic shorts dedicated to surf spot parking lots, and having this unobtrusive camera was nice for the first exercise in that direction:

But guys, it looks like they focused on skew and made very decent advances there, right? I think it was MUCH worse on the D90.

Let them get their chips developed and they might have something decent to compete with Canon soon enough. Isn't Nikon always trailing Canon?

I love the Nikon look. Maybe it isn't the best "flat/raw" image to bring in to color in post. But it looks cool. I like its character.

Agreed. I think of it like shooting reversal stock--it's a really cool look, with rather limited options in post. But I think the limitations are actually kind of helpful for certain things.

headtube is the part of the bike frame that holds the steerer of the front fork and the stem for the handlebar comes on top of it. If you look at that and see the shape becomes tall and short (deforming vertically). Rolling shutter under vertical shakes would create this result.
