  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nikon AL Mount - Glare Issue

I tested this out last night and get this as well on our Nikon mount with ZFs, hesitant to try matte paint on the inside of the lens mount.

Hopefully Red will put out a fix for this.

Would flocking paper work ? It can be purchased self adhesive.

I've not used it before, but it might, not sure how tight the tolerances at that point in the lens mount would be, but the paper can be bought pretty thin it seems.

I'd have to go back home and check my Nikon mount, but, if it's a small piece of black plastic back there, Humbrol No 33 Matt Black should work really well. It's enamel paint for plastic and metal miniature models. I used it when I was a kid and it worked great. It's very matt, and you can get a nice smooth coat in one pass. Once it's on, it stays.

I also have this flare on the Nikon AL mount (using Rokinon)

Anybody has a link to black matt paint we could use?

Thanks

Patrick

PS: the flair guard is installed on the Epic, but even with PL mount the flair guard is not 100% clean.

I'm waiting for RedEurope answer about this issue.
If you can't wait for Red to solve this problem, I agree with Augusto, the Humbrol n°33 Matt black must be the best solution.

Ackar tape looks pretty reflective too me and must be expensive....
Permacel / Nitto tape Matt black is easy to find, thin enough and non reflective, should work too.
Does Nikon Ti version has the same issue ?
