I ordered the Scarlet Canon Al mount package. I own a lot of great Nikon glass currently. Is there an adapter I can use to mount my Nikon glass on the canon mount?

Tons of them, many incredibly cheap. Search eBay for Nikon to EOS mount, and don't forget you'll need an aperture ring on the adapter if you're using G lenses.

Not that I know of from RED, but they have a Nikon mount coming out ...soon maybe?

I think there is someone that makes an adapter though. Head over to the Lens Tests part of the board, you'll probably find some info over there. I made a Nikon thread there as well.

Leitax is a mount conversion, not an adapter. But nice from what I hear. Don't know if there is a US distributor.

Here's what I would/might get:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=novoflex+nikon+canon+adapter&N=0&InitialSearch=yes

I would use the manual version, but nice they have one that works with G. Novoflex stuff always seems overpriced to me, but probably the best choice if you expect to switch lenses and keep this adapter attached to the Canon RED mount.

The Fotodiox models, including the "pro" models are cheaper and available on eBay and Amazon. Complaints are mostly about manufacturing tolerances and flimsy lock. Probably ok if you plan to keep an adapter on the lens. If you ordered several you might be able to match them with mounts on your different Nikon lenses, which have different manufacturing tolerances themselves.

RED's Nikon mount will have a locking collar and full electronics, including a unique motor for iris control. Personally, I hope it is offered in a less-expensive Al version.

One more thought. I wonder about clearance problems with the G-adapters that have a mechanical linkage. Would there be interference between the RED locking collar and the external iris adjustment lever (the blue tab on the Novoflex). Or if no interference, would it be difficult to reach the lever? The Optitek Epic/Scarlet mount shouldn't have those problems since it has it's own linkage engineered in.

Come to think of it, the locking collar might make it difficult/impossible to reach the release on the adapter, so the adapter and lens will always have to come off together. Not a major problem, but less flexible.

Do not do not do not do not buy a Chinese one from eBay. There will be so much play in it that you'll reframe your shot trying to focus. Get one from Novoflex. Worth the price premium without question.

Long term, I completely agree- the cheap ones are NOT professional products. But with RED producing their own Nikon mount, I for one am only looking for a temporary solution to adapt my lenses. I can deal with some play while I get to know the camera and the official mount is finalized.

I have a few Allstar mounts (for Red One) for Nikon F lenses and they are just GREAT! And it is from China!
I also have a PL mount, C/Y mount and expecting Leica R mount and an Epic/Scarlet plate.
I believe Allstar is the best option for Nikon and Leica R lenses for Red One and Epic/Scarlet.

The best Nikon mount for Epic or Scarlet is the Optitek Prolock. Excellent quality, controls G lens iris, the most positive locking Nikon mount you could want. I suspect that is the inspiration for the Red locking mechanism on their Canon mount. The website is a mess, and it only shows the version made for the Red One, but I own both, and the mount for the Epic/Scarlet is even better than the R1 mount.

Nice. Thanks

Optitek Prolock is also a great solution for Nikon lovers but you can only use Nikon lenses...
With Allstar, I can use PLs, Nikkors, Leica Rs,and Contax Zeisses.
Look at Lens Forum for Leica R lenses and even there are other dedicated Leica R mounts for Epic/Scarlet, many people use Allstar mount.
Why?

Just to clarify.. any of these adapters that go onto our canon mount or PL mount and are dumb adapters have no fear of voiding any warranties. Had a bunch of emails about that tonight.

I bought several cheap ones from eBay earlier this year. None are perfect, but they do the job, at least on my T2i, and I see no reason why they won't work on scarlet. While there is a little play, I cann't see it affect the image.
Don't expect to take the adapter on and off the lens, it is a pain to do so, buy one for each lens along with a canon rear cap. FWIW the last one I got from eBay seller big_is was actually a slightly different design:

http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages...86,496182398,496182405&formats=0,0,0&format=0

On picture 1, just to the right and below the red dot is a small lever sticking up that one presses to disengage the locking pin to remove the adapter. On my other adapters the oblong hole below the red dot is actually a part of a small tab one needs to pull up while rotating the entire adapter, tricky to do.

The cheapest adapters do not have a chip to tell the camera that a lens (usually 50mm 1.4) is attached. Might be a problem if the red thinks no lens is attached?

While the eBay adapters are certainly not pro grade they do the job, no one will be able to tell from the resulting image

Amazon has a bunch of nikon to canon eos adapters. I have bought a bunch of these, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003Y38GSS/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details. They are hard to put on the lens and remove so it is best to buy one for each lens. They also transfer lens focus data. Some of those old nikkors look pretty good and if you are trying to keep the weight, price and form factor down its a good way to go.

So will the Allstar A-mount for RED ONE, work for the Scarlet?
