Hello all!

Here's a spec I shot the other day in Brooklyn. It was very impromptu, shot solo in a day with my SW. Watch with headphones if you can :)

Hope you enjoy and thanks in advance for the critique :)

I just shot something similar on spec so I can appreciate the edit, and shot choices. I think the cinematography, edit, color, lensing are all excellent. If there is a weak point it's the voice over. I ran into the same thing.
The editor 86'ed the dialogue and filled the spaces with a great music choice.

Just my humble opinion. Great work.

Great work, really impressive. How did you get the aerial shot? Also what resolution for the slow mo shot?

Overall, I thought it was really good.

I don't think it not being 30 or 60 seconds hurts it in this case, because on Nike's YouTube Page their ads go a little all over the place in length, but I'm sure there are those who might think it could be cut down to 30 seconds still.

Only thing, for me, is I think the second set of shoes at the 8 second mark miss an opportunity to use a pair of shoes that would have the Nike logo looking right at the viewer. Mainly because it's such a prominent and contrasting shot from the previous one, it could easily have been the "this is a Nike commercial" shot with that.

Regardless, it's still very well made.

Thanks for taking the time to think about this!

I think it's a very good observation. Definitely something I will take into consideration on the next one. In a perfect world I would have had more control over wardrobe. Essentially, the talent just came with whatever Nike kit they owned :P

Maybe I'll slap some logos on in AE.

Thanks, homie!

Thanks for the reply, Bill! I appreciate the feedback. What specifically didn't work about the VO for you?

It's not the script, it's the delivery. To my ear it lacks conviction, and it doesn't sound authentic.
Sounds like a young person who's not confident with a microphone in front of them.

Thanks so much for the honest feedback, Bill. It's great to hear all of this stuff from you guys.

Get's me psyched to learn from the mistakes and crank out the next one :)
