I posted a Nikon lens on craigslist the other day, and low and behold, some guy named "Mike Jack" was ready to buy it for full price right way, plus cover $300 bucks for shipping! Like any scam, they try to play on your greed and get you to ship before you have time to think about it.

Only minutes later the money had arrived!

Of course, the shipping destination was the first red flag. Nigeria, rofl.

When I actually logged into Paypal, there was no money there.

Nice try, sucka!

Nigerian scammers have invaded many of my eBay and craigslist dealings. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... Eh,, eh. You can't get fooled again.

You know, this guy is really stupid. But if this item had only been worth like 300 bucks, and if the address was in the US, I might not have bothered to open a new browser and double-check my balance at Paypal. The "payment received" email is pretty convincing looking.

This guy's downfall is trying to get someone to ship very to Nigeria. If he had a US address in like Indiana, he would be more successful. Word to the wise.

I love your email back to him when you found no such funds. That PayPal email looked pretty fake too.

Don't trust anyone with two first names... "Mike Jack"

What about Ron Paul?

Bottom line is if the person never refers to the item to what it actually is other than 'item', it's a scam. Always a sure fire giveaway.

I tried listing something on Craig's List once. Got emails from obvious scammers, decided to pull items and use Ebay (which means I took a money hit). These scammers are true scum, that is the people who run these scam operations are. I'm sure some of the people are doing it to survive, make a buck.

Wise...very nice TOm.
I Liked...
