Shot with the Birger and a Canon 70-200 2.8L. I used Build 20 with Tungsten lights. A low contrast Quicktime was rendered with Red Rushes. Final grading done in Apple Color.

Build 20 totally changes the camera. I can't thank all the dudes at Red enough.

Love the tone, just wish was a bit sharper, unless the soft look was intentional, but I know you can do better with the 70-200 2.8L, that is the best zoom Canon has ever made.

ciao

I agree with Ketch on all counts.

Nice......

It just looks like a highly compressed jpg (as far as softness goes) to me. Cool to see miss Kidman in REDvision.

I like it as is... sharpness tends to make a camera shout that it's there bulging out.

I love this.. she looks very natural. a tad warm.. but that's fine.

very naturalistic

I think the 70- 200 4.0 is a little sharper

Correct Mark, the 70-200 f/4.0 is in deed sharper then the 2.8, do to less elements, but this is only true for the none IS version.

As far as the color is not Pink, I have three monitors including the 2k, on Gamma 2.2 Adobe 1998 and the Tones are great, just a bit soft, so it must be a Monitor Calibration issue as Jim mention.

ciao

Guys maybe the softness is because she's not 20 anymore? Doesn't help that RED is not very forgiving in that department. I don't know many who would not soften a star like her and if you can't afford post because of time or money it's a soft fx in the camera (personally I prefer black promist if possible).

Also I like the pink warmness - suits her complexion and choice of clothes - so nothing wrong in your CC, just a preference.

To get anywhere in this industry, the single most important job of a cinematograher is to keep the actresses looking pretty. Trust me, EVERYTHING else is secondary.

Was wondering when someone would post this...
