  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nice set of lenses on ebay

I'm pretty up on what lens were made by Zeiss for the Contax SLR's. I know of no 20 or 25mm models at any speed. There is a 15 but it's f2.8 and I doubt if they would call it a T4. Also it's physically larger then anything in the ebay ad and it ran about 7k list price. Even used they are still 3 to 4k for the lens in Contax mount. That leaves the 35, 50 and the 85mm T1.6's. This I will buy as those focale lengths were all offered in f1.4 One advantage besides the fact that the Zeiss series for Contax are some of the finest lenses ever made is, that they all focused cinewise which makes for easier rehousing. Now there is a 21mm Contax but it is a very unusal design. From the outside it looks like a 100 or 135mm still camera lens. So it's not in that batch either. They go for around 2.5 to 3.8k used in Contax mount. It's been said that the Contax 21mm lens may be the shapest still camera lens ever made not to mention that it's a wide angle also. If I had a cine camera, and it was in PL mount, and if these lenses even if not all of them are in fact Contax by Zeiss, I would take a good look at them. So as I say I don't know the 20 or 25mm not even in the rangefinder models for Contax but if the price were right one might be able to get a six lens group that would cover the majority of shots.

Upon some more investigation I found there was a 25mm f2.8

I would imagine that the 20mm in the set is the same one I am using with my Zeiss C/Y mount lens set. A 20mm Flektogon f2.8.

Nice set of lenses.
Ok, a Flektogon. That goes back a few years. lol Do you like it? How's the rectilinear correction on those? I was wrong on the 15 T4 also. They made it in a f3.5 version before the f2.8 so that would probally be close to a T4

Are you going to use them on the RED camera?
