  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NHK demonstrates 8K display: 16x more detail than 1080p

they quote me 300k, so the 350k they quote you was probably with some extras. if it was 6k camera,i'm sold.

I liked both Sony F35 and Arri D21. They are both good cameras and have good features. But they are 2K and over priced.

Both Sony and Arri believe there is no market for 4K or 6K. They say the current post work flow support only 2K and the film is only 2K. So they are sticking with 2K. They are of course wrong. I think they have cut their own throat by that idea.

Sony has no plans to compete with RED as of today. They think RED is just a temporary blimp. They are wrong. Jim has already cornered the market. Unless they come up with a competing camera before next NAB, there will be a RED in every household and the market will be closed for both Sony and ARRI.

Both Sony and Arri believe big budget studios will pay huge amounts for a nice camera. They are wrong. studios are sensitive to camera price savings. Unless they reduce their prices to under $50K, both Sony and Arri will be history soon ( as far as 35 mm PL mount movie cameras are concerned.) I am convinced.

Sony and Arri are in the 4K market longer than red exists - the Sony SRX4K projector was introduced before red started, and arriscan & laser are doing 4K also longer than red exists.

What is true, however, is that both dont see a 4K camera market as important enough right now to do a camera for it - in the case of arri thats a disaster (imho), in the case of sony less. Arris camera market is complety overlapping with reds, while sonys overlap is tiny (yet).

Sony said they were eventually going to come out with a 4K camera weren't they? (This was... 2 NABs ago?)
