  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Next new RED reel - time to gather footage please!

Hello everyone

I'll be working next on creating a special reel to premiere at IBC this year. Our plan this year is to present in the giant digital cinema theater with our friends at Avid, so I'd love to get some movies, tv shows, music videos, etc shot on RED and edited on Avid to show off there. Any great footage you all think should be included in the reel shot from all over the world we would like to consider for inclusion as well.

Best case scenario - if you can provide a cut of the material along with the original R3D files and edl of the edit so we match the grade and finish it in 4k on the Avid DS. * If that's not possible we can also take finished, graded cuts in 2k or 1080p.

Thanks in advance for contributing to this new reel. *For those of you attending IBC, if you have not had a chance to see RED footage in all it's 4k glory on one of the worlds largest movie screens - I highly recommend it - and for anyone that has shot RED and would like to see their footage on this super big screen - please contribute material and we'll do our best to include it.

Great to hear Ted,

we are now working on the Drama Film "Rape of a Beauty" it would be my pleasure to send you a cut of the trailer for showing, you will have to edit out any scenes that my appear too strong, obviously the Rape scenes will be cut out no matter how tasteful and artistically might be done, but I'm sure if we get to you in time you will be blown away by the quality of the footage and its content.

Yes deadline?? I have an awesome shoot scheduled in 2 weeks, and another one in the works...which will provide some pretty unique footage for RED
 
Hi Guys,

in response to your questions:

Anything you want to submit - you can send an email with your contact info to Chaia at the RED office: chaiab@red.com

and she can send you proper shipping instructions on where to ship a hard drive with the material, we will copy it, and send your hard drive back to you.

In terms of footage that might be controversial, as Ketch is mentioning - we will review and pick material that will be visually interesting and shows off the power of the RED in tandem with the talent of the people behind the camera (and in front of it of course)

Regarding deadline for getting footage to us - probably mid August will be the very latest we can accept new footage - be great to have everything submitted by August 1st.

Regarding the file type - anything you want us to consider for the 4k finish of the reel, we need the original R3D's for as well as your finish of those shots (HD, 2k or 4k finish) so we can match your grade to the one that will be in the 4k finish)

In addition to the reel, I often show 2k or HD versions of finished pieces (music videos, movie trailers, clips of TV shows, etc) in presentations worldwide - so if you want your work considered for that, you can also send finished pieces as 2k or 1080p ProRes Quicktimes, or on HDCAMSR tape if that's easier for you.

Fedex just dropped off my partner's set of RPP's off this morning!! so I hope to shoot some spectacular landscapes just for you Ted over the weekend.
 
This is exciting. We missed the boat on the last reel, even though there was a shot from one of our cameras from a rental job!
 
We have currently been shooting On Location in Peru for the last two months in Cusco and incredibly in Machu Picchu. We are still in Cusco, but will be returning in mid August. I don't know if you are still looking for footage and if we can get it to you on time, but we have a lot of great footage you might want to use?
