Hi All,

Anyone knows if the Nikkor lens AF-S 24-70mm E ED Vr is fully compatible with the latest firmware of the Weapon MG? In the ud+ser manual the compatible lens is the older AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 G ED but nothing is sais about the newer VR version.

Anyone knows? Will the VR work with the Weapon MG?

Thanks,

Hey Rui,

Not a Weapon MG but used the same lens on Epic-W running 7.0 recently. Had hit and miss iris control as per usual with the new Nikon E lenses. Haven’t played around with it enough to figure out the pattern but most times a remount and reboot would get it working again.

I haven't tried it in several months on my Weapon Helium, but at least 2 versions ago aperture control was very hit-or-miss. Sometimes I was able to control the aperture (aperture was N/A and the lens was wide open at f/2.8), and other instances it wasn't. I had to reboot the camera a couple times for it to finally give me aperture control. I never tried autofocus since for RED cameras it's pretty impractical to use in most situations.

And it still isn't on the supported lenses list: https://support.red.com/hc/en-us/articles/225724728-DSMC-Nikon-Mount-Usage-and-Supported-Lenses

Maybe next time I have my Nikon mount on my brain I'll try it again. But I think VR will work since the augular velocity sensors are built into the lens.
