Hi

Ok I the newbie who needs a hand.

1 - I have downloaded from Red the FCP installer, Quicktime codec, Redcine and Red Alert. I have FCP 6.0.5 and QT 7.5.5.
2 - I am trying to understand the workflow, therefore I downloaded a .R3D file from the net to learn with however FCP Log and Transfer won't recognize it. I believed that it was suppose to see the proxies??

If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Thanks

In fact I have discovered that if I leave the Log and transfer window open long enough ( 5min or so) the clips will eventually appear. Weird is this suppose to be normal?

I think it's just searching your drive for candidates.

You can use Red Alert to regenerate the proxies if you need them.

There is an even easier workflow, where you just drag the P or M proxie in and edit. Then, when you go to Color, it picks up the original R3D file and you grade the full res version. Works great for simple, cuts only but if you want to really edit, transcoding is still your best option.
