Ok so I'm in NY for a couple of days, now the question is: what should I go see from a filmmakers perspective?

I'm in NYC. Just moved here recently. Looking for work now. Good times. Except for the looking for work part. Anyway, let me know when you come into town. We can grab a drink, watch a movie or something.
So for some reason, my brain interpreted the initial question to be film-related things to see, and therefore: movies. I feel a little dumb now, because of course there are a TON of things to see in NYC that any filmmaker would likely be interested in, that are not movies.
Among things that others haven't yet mentioned.
If you're interested in art, you should definitely check out the Metropolitan Museum and MoMA. Met is pay-what-you-wish, so you can get in for $1, if you so choose. MoMA, not so much. The Met is currently running an exhibit devoted to Robert Frank's photographs, and specifically, "The Americans" which I'd have a hard time imagining any filmmaker not being interested in.
Also on the art front, there are a huge number of galleries in Chelsea on the from about 19th St. to 24th St between 10th and 11th Ave. You can often find some really great exhibits at these places.
The Met also has a museum dedicated to Medieval Art called "The Cloisters." It's up on the nothernmost tip of Manhattan, up on a rocky crag overlooking the Hudson River. It's got a really gorgeous view, and on a nice day, is one of the more beautiful places to walk in the city, even if you have no interest in Medieval Art. Bonus points for the great food in the nearby Dominican neighborhood.
There's of course always Central Park, too. More as I think of it.
Don't forget to visit my studio guyz... I'm @ Time square..
Go for a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, and finish off the day with pizza at Grimaldi's:

Awesome pizza.
After you walk across the Bklyn bridge walk up Flatbush ave to Junior's Restaurant and Bakery, 386 Flatbush Avenue. Some of the best food in NY.
Don't forget the Empire State Building.
I also recommend the Museum of Natural History/Planetarium. Don't miss the dinosaurs and evolution exhibit (also a film) upstairs (9th floor?).
How about a field trip to B&H? Just don't show up at 2pm on a Friday like I did.
