  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW YORK + EPIC

I saw my first and thought it was way too pasty and rosy... he he, so I had to do an edgier one even if not as wild as yours Jarred.

How did I miss this thread until now?

Thanks for posting these Jarred! You have a great eye!

Mess'n with these files definitely reinforces the fact that I'll be unloading all my still cameras and going to shoot everything with my Epic when it arrives this summer. I already have a few clients hooked on picking there stills from a QuickTime file online with clip and frame count running on the bottom.

Barely sharpened. I think I applied Unsharp 80 (1.0 pixel, 0 threshhold) at the 5k level in Potoshop. Which is nothing at all.

I did do other things that add perceived contrast. Curves, saturation, contrast, diffusion, all 2nd lights.

Whoa...thanks Jarred. Nice work.

Really digging this one, Roberto. The red reflection really makes it. Did you do it all in RCX, or something else?

I developed a .TIF in RC-X which brought me where I wanted to be. I wouldn't dream of wasting all that nondestructive power available in the development of the digital negative. Then in Photoshop I only did one or two 1st light tweaks, and several 2nd lights, all at either 16-bit or 32-bit 5k.

I tried pushing too hard, but the thing just won't friggin' break at 50%, which is WELL beyond 1080, or 2k! You gotta do something really dumb to get to the breaking point. Starting with 5k REDRAW is a joy.

I said this few times, and I'll say it again, coming form a world of Professional Photography working with cameras up to 80MP,
what I see here in Jarred's work on EPIC is INCREDIBLY GOOD!!

Further more after our visit to Red Studios last night and having sen some HUGE prints out of this hots... and few more,
I validate my point, EPIC is replacing all our Photography Gear!!! ;)

Not sure what the size of the image has to do with dynamic range or bit depth...
