  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Video of "Crossing"...

Awesome trailer... it seems there are a couple of new shots in there that weren't in the short (and I don't mean the silly post above this), but its been a while since I saw it at CineGear...

The music builds perfectly. If you haven't downloaded it yet, you're missing out... you gotta see it.

thanks for putting this up, Jim.

Lol, yeah, that was the worst moment in an otherwise good movie.

I gotta tell you guys, the experience of being the first into the tent for the first screening of this on NAB morn was amazing :-)

The full length version is about 13 minutes. At this resolution the download would be about 1.5GB. Too much for now. Plus we want as many people as possible to see it 4K.

What was this shot with???

The people in Dallas are still at the hotel waiting to see
"Crossing the Line". We were the only city in the Apple
tour that Red went missing. I know a few rental houses
here in Dallas will be getting Reds.

And instead of Motion Jpeg for the the 1K version
try PhotoJpeg or H.264. I think you have some
progressive to interlacing going on.

I believe it was shot with a Varicam... It seems that's what I recall along with a comment about the backgrounds being "a mile away" to get the shallow DOF look.

As for the Dallas Apple event, I had to go to Dallas last month and almost added 2 days onto the beginning of my trip to attend. I'm so glad I decided to pass on the extra two days, seeing how I didn't miss anything. :bleh: Still though, that's a bummer for all hoping to have seen the camera and perhaps Ted or someone from RED and "crossing".

That's some awesome looking footage. The aerial and landscape shots are absolutely stunning.

On the down side, you just made it that much harder for me to consider buying any camera that I can comfortably afford.:waaa:

Yep. Great to see those shots again. Seeing those wide shots projected in 4K made my soul rejoice! That's really the test of a great visual format - the way it captures vistas... and Red can definitely do it. :sorcerer:

You have put a smile on my face tonight. Thanks guys.

Also a great reminder that you CAN get deep deep depth of field if you stop down enough.

Get used to it, it's just an odd form of marketing, I guess... this is the fifth or so "Punishment and Reward" cycle we've been through over misc footage and stills in a year.

Goes like this...

1.) RED publishes something, anything.
2.) People scream "Thank you! Thank you!".
3.) Minutes later, people complain, "Hey, why isn't it....?".
4.) RED answers back, "We're busy enough as is, guess we'll just go dark".
5.) People reply, "No!!! We're sorry! Damn you others who wanted more!!!!".
6.) RED, "ah, we love you, here you go, more stuff!".

Wash, rinse and repeat every few months.

I've started doing something similar as a behavior training program with my dog.

Works wonders on him.

wooof!

EDIT: Thanks for the footage. Happy to have seen it in 4k, so I don't feel so tense. :)

That was amazing!!! I was in the front of the line in NAB and honestly when I saw it there--I was in shock and I forgot how truely stunning it was. This brought it back in a big way and brought it "home" for me.

To the skeptics, watch this and go back to the still gallery and bring up:

http://www.red.com/skin/img/gallery-still/005634.jpg

Imagine the detail, clarity and depth you see in that picture, now imagine it as a tiff. Now put those together 24 times a second for this entire trailer... Now spice in variable shutter speed, and variable frame rates (remember this was shot on "on/off" prototypes)...

Holy-mother-of-God-I-may-be-having-a-heart-attack!

Come on--Back to work--Let's see if we can't crank out 516 cameras as fast as physically possible. After that--you can rest a little. :)

I'm sorry, but trying to find fault in that is just that...trying to find fault. If that doesn't stir up the old filmmaking juices then you're just bitter and jaded, so find the door.
