That looks amazing! The sharp wide shots blow me away.

yust watched it. Im yust curious... why dident you guys post this footage earlier? It looks extremly good! Above my expectation. Im almost speechless.

Get used to it, it's just an odd form of marketing, I guess... this is the fifth or so "Punishment and Reward" cycle we've been through over misc footage and stills in a year.

Goes like this...

1.) RED publishes something, anything.
2.) People scream "Thank you! Thank you!".
3.) Minutes later, people complain, "Hey, why isn't it....?".
4.) RED answers back, "We're busy enough as is, guess we'll just go dark".
5.) People reply, "No!!! We're sorry! Damn you others who wanted more!!!!".
6.) RED, "ah, we love you, here you go, more stuff!".

Wash, rinse and repeat every few months.

I've started doing something similar as a behavior training program with my dog.

Works wonders on him.
LOL (Part II)

You just won post of the week Arthurs..

sharp

sharp

so sharp. i like that. from that kind of sharpness you can go in any direction or just keep that native surreal look.

my only complaint is frame 35.79 (biplane before takeoff). there's a single frame dip in luma. is that a post/quicktime problem, boris/natascha problem or am i the only one seeing it making my quad g5 the problem?

Saw this as well. Thout it was a QT thing in the compression????

Thanks for posting the full version of "crossing"! I finally get to see it (yaaay). I will put up a mirror shortly to help ease the bandwidth load.

Edit> guess I got too excited, not the full thing... Anyway, now I just want to see the full short even more. This looked awesome, even @ 1K for web delivery.

can i ask a very silly question?

i appreciate this clip- downloading now. but its a bit odd that you're posting footage from an alpha prototype when you've already admitted to improving this picture quality dramatcally in the last few months and you're 2 weeks away from shipping.

boards were respun to reduce noise, rolling shutter reduced. DR improved, FPN gone...... are you saying there is no footage at all from the final production camera that we could see? We havent had a 4K image since all these changes have been made to the Red architecture...

i havent seen this clip before, so its all good to me (looking forward to the 2K post very much).

Edit : wait a sec, is this the whole film? now i see why u r posting it

Guys, keep in mind that this is the trailer version of the movie... not the whole movie. If you get a chance check out the full version at IBC.. its well worth the time to see it on the big screen. I think that the flickers are artifacts from quicktime because I didn't see it when I saw it at Cinegear. Mirror will be up in 1/2 hr.

Looks Awesome. Just one question. This is still only a trailer of a longer version right? That's not a complaint in any way, I'm very happy. :) ....ya see

Edit........I write too slow. Question withdrawn.

Well then How long was the trailer shown at NAB?

They showed the full short at NAB. I'm guessing that the original would be close to 1 Gig. Its a fair synopsis of all the best shots though. I'm not complaining. :)

The full length version is about 13 minutes. At this resolution the download would be about 1.5GB. Too much for now. Plus we want as many people as possible to see it 4K.

Jim

Look foward to seein it in 4k. Keep us posted on screenings. thanks again for the bone.

It`s perfect. Thanks for link. Now waiting to see on IBC.
Paul

Awesome! Very nice editing... it captures the feeling of the film very well!

One thing, and I'm not trying to be negative here, just asking an honest question. There seems to be a pinkish tint to the blown-out highlights of the clouds around 1:50-1:51. I didn't notice this when I saw the film at 4K, but it went by so fast I'm not sure I would have. I also seem to remember a pinkish tint to the blown-out spots on the famous milk bottle though. Is there an easy explanation for this?

Ok, I'm done. *ducks*
