  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New V-mount battery plate

Hey Mark,

I don't have the AB plate (coming soon) but their V-mount is top notch. Build quality is excellent. What I love about MG1's V-mount wt D-plate is that you can attach the darn thing everywhere. It has 15 - 1/4-20" holes so you can mount it on the top, side, back and bottom with using clamps or 15/19mm rods clamps.

Also, they did Custom etching of my plate...that's pretty cool for free since I was one of their early Pre-order customers. Nice touch.

I've been checking out their batteries too like the one you are talking about (89) with good review; so far. Just waiting for some cash to come in to make the dive.

Can't say enough about their dedication and service.

Hey Michael,

Can you post pics of your rig with the MG1 plate? I'm interested to see how the cable protrudes from the plate and attaches to the rig. Is the cable protected at the point where it exists the plate? Would love to see some actual rigs.

thx

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the info, think i am gonna start ordering the batteries and everything tomorrow. Still waiting for the side module to come so at the min i can only run on mains. Its driving me crazy we have had the best weather for March in like 8 years lol typical

Hey, I just took a pic of mine...just on my iPhone. Build quality is fantastic...I mounted it on there pretty strongly, but you have some options.I bought the 8" cable, but if you plan on putting it on the back, you could probably do 6 no problem.

Ah finally, thanks for the picture. Hey Brandon, does the D plate have a quick release mechanism or is it fixed to the body via bolts? Say if you wanted to remove it to mount the Redmote, would you need tools? Also what are your impressions of the the point where the cable exit the plate? Typically those types of contact points would be reinforced with thick rubber "shoes/sleeves/grommets" to limit the possibility of kinking the cable and eventually cracking the outer coat. From the pic, it doesn't look like it's reinforced - is that right?

You can quick release it from the back of the camera by the use of M4 bolts and those spring plungers. Not fixed like other companies.

No

Uh??? Fine.

Really, never happened to me on any V-mount plates I've used - not worried. Who reinforces? If so, I imagine MG1 will replace the cable. Its a cable. I think you're stressing too much, dude.

It doesn't have to be mounted on permanently, but mine is. I like it like that.

Cable seems to be reinforced a bit...actually I don't remember.

Agreed. It's a non-issue with every type of battery cable I've seen on pro gear... don't worry abou tit.

You're correct.

If their was any issue what so ever, we would replace cable assembly or D-plate - free of charge. We feel its quite robust but time will tell from you all REDusers and owners here; if their was a concern.

Thank you, Trevor
