Thought other Scarlet owners would appreciate this little nimble of info. I belong to other forums especially Cinema5D and it seems one of their sponsors is starting to gear up for the new Scarlet with a V-mount battery plate. I know like myself, buying the Scarlet with all sorts of accessories isn't cheap...you need to buy all sorts of extras before you can use the camera. So, this may help you save some dough since their isn't much power options for Scarlet nor Epic cameras out there.

They haven't posted prices nor availability but you could inquiry about it. They did tell me it will be reasonably priced and will hopefully begin shipping as early as next week or the week after. Cool.

You can check out their website:

or the link were I read it with more info about their up-coming RED products:

Sure, if you want to spend more. MG1 Concepts makes top quality products. I've bought many products from them and they are fantastic especially if you're trying to stretch out your dollar and on a budget. Scarlet isn't a consumer product like DSLR so if you can save couple hundred...why not!

V-lock with a detachable plate. Not too shabby.

Just another product to help you power your new Scarlet/Epic camera.

Does it secure to the back of the camera or do you need a plate?

I can't speak for them but I imagine that's why they have a detachable plate so you can mount it on the back. I would suggest to e-mail and ask them.

Thanks. Bought one. I like saving money. More money to buy more RED stuff...Ha Ha!!!

Forgot to ask, where is a good place to get batteries? It seems MG1 Concepts will have some...but I wonder where do others get theirs?

Bought some v-lock Citytek batteries direct from China a while ago. I wondered at the time if they're the original manufacturer... They offered to brand the packs with my labelling if I bought more than a small number, but who knows :)

Why is it that some V-mount battery plates sell for under $200, but then the ones that adapt to the EPIC/Scarlet are in the $500-$700 range? I'm quite new to V-mounts, so I don't know if it's related to the quality of the connectors, or just the design needed to work only with these camera models. I'm just trying to figure out if there's something cheaper out there that I have missed.

So far the cheapest options I have:

$499

www.mg1concepts.com

$229 + Red V-mount battery plate and cable for $400 (provided by them)= $629

$699

Lemo cables are $$$$. And Epic specific accessories have a much smaller market so you can't just have a Chinese manufacturer crank out epic specific stuff yet.

Any other options you can share ? I'm thinking many more will appear soon, since manufacturers finally have the real dimensions of Scarlet-X...and people are realizing how practical it is to use V-mounts. I will probably wait till I get the email from my rep, saying that the Scarlet is being shipped....
